I proudly make my hunting knives with many things in mind, beauty, out of the box sharpness and ergonomics.
The perfect companion.
As a hunter, I'm a gear fanatic. I look for quality in every piece of equipment that I buy. I don't have to have the most expensive gear but I don't mind paying a little more for something that I know will function for years to come. That is what I'm after when I make my hunting knives. I hand craft each one to be as functional and beautiful the first day it's used as it will be when it gets passed down to your son or daughter.
Steel types
There are two main types of steel, carbon steel and "stainless" steel. Each has advantages and disadvantages.
Carbon steel: A few that I like are W2, 52100, 3V, 1095 and 1084. These will rust if not cared for and will develop patina with normal use. They are, in general, more easy to sharpen. They will spark with a ferro rod.
Stainless steel: A few that I like in this category are AEB-L, S35VN, 20CV and N690. These are less likely to rust and in general are more difficult to sharpen (except for AEB-L). They will not spark with flint but will spark with a ferro rod.
